The Story of John Schooley (Austin, Texas) is a story of a man with a heart deep in the Blues and the left foot in the Dirty Rock’n’Roll… With his first Band the Revelators (Crypt Records) and then with the Fantastic Hard Feelings (Sympathy, Gearhead, Dropkick) he built the ground he is walking on today... Blues is angry and sad at the same time, you hate someone because you love him so much and this feeling is what Schooley brings on the tape so perfect. He has a incredible technique as a one man band; with his double kick pedal and snare he can give so much drive in the music that it’s incredible I think.
‘EVERY DAY CAN GET YOU DOWN’ is a perfect example of that... Starting up as a standart blues riff and ending up in a full power blues trash fist in your face disaster... What do you need more...? RL Burnside (Schooley was guitar player for him on tours) couldn’t make this better…
He mixes up much more styles this time and instruments as the album before, Rockabilly for example in the wildest form and he even uses a Cello in ‘MY BABY CRIED ALL NIGHT LONG’
The Album Cover is made again my the amazing Rob Jones (The White Stripes) and I think that’s pretty awesome!
